Reticulation reminder

Reticulation checks

Have you turned your reticulation back on after the winter sprinkler ban?

While we have had a mild spring, there have been days when the temperature has crept into the 30s. When it comes to keeping your lawn and gardens looking great, there are few things to keep in mind.

  1. Check that your reticulation system is working as it should.
The next time your reticulation is on, walk around and check that all the nozzles are working correctly. Make sure they are pointing in the right direction and aren’t spraying over concrete or paved areas.
  2. Water when your garden needs it.
In Summer we can experience periods of high heat, at these times your garden needs more watering than the two days allowed for sprinklers. When this happens the plants need you to hand water them in between the permitted watering days. Remember it’s your responsibility to ensure the plants and lawn are being water sufficiently.
  3. Check your house, inside and out, for leaks.
Leaking taps, toilets and sprinklers can waste up to 30 litres of water each day. If you have a leak, be sure to report it as soon as possible.
  4. Feed your garden now.
Take advantage of the cooler weather and prepare your garden for what’s ahead. Use a liquid-soil wetting agent to help moisture penetrate through soil. If you don’t do this you are wasting money on water that will just pool on the surface. Also, give your garden and lawns a good feed by spreading some fertiliser now.

If you are unsure of your rostered watering days, please head to the Water Corporation website. If you are caught watering on days you shouldn’t you face an on-the-spot fine of $100.
