If you’re keen to do your bit in conserving water, here are a few simple things that you can do around your home.
Only water when your garden needs it.
The Water Corporation tells us that gardens only need to be watered once a week in spring, when the temperatures are relatively cool and there’s still dew on the ground. While the winter sprinkler ban is over, and you can go back to your regular twice-a-week roster, if rain is forecast, turn off your reticulation.
Check that your reticulation system is working as it should.
The next time your reticulation is on, walk around and check that all the nozzles are working correctly. Make sure they are pointing in the right direction and aren’t spraying over concrete or paved areas.
Check your house, inside and out, for leaks.
Leaking taps, toilets and sprinklers can waste up to 30 litres of water each day. If you have a leak, be sure to report it as soon as possible.
