This month we’re having a chat with southern suburbs Property Manager Mitchell Zile.
Has your portfolio changed much over the last year?
We’ve recently restructured and transferred certain properties that were located outside my portfolio to other Rentwest staff, to allow for more attention to be given to my core suburbs. I’m still looking after Brookdale/Byford, Cannington/East Cannington, Success/Beeliar, Mt Pleasant, Applecross, Ardross and Melville.
Have you noticed any changes in the areas you manage? Any new developments/shopping centres/attractions?
Byford and Brookdale continue to grow. These areas are full of family-friendly four-bedroom homes along with a great range of townhouse properties at affordable prices. The Cockburn Central precinct is growing rapidly, with many new shops and cafes being opened. The extensions across the road to Cockburn Central Shopping Centre are also progressing and I’m sure everyone in the Beeliar/Success area will be looking forward to the new shops sure to be on offer.
What’s your take on the Perth market at the moment?
The Perth rental market has definitely taken a step back compared to 12 months ago. Properties are still being leased at a swift rate but tenants are being more selective because there are more properties available. Tenants are really looking for added extras at the moment. Suitable air-conditioning is a major drawcard with summer on the way, and new tenants along with tenants who are renewing leases are looking for a nice cool property in summer.
